Arrangements for transfer to Chipping Norton School
We would like to welcome you as a prospective parent to Chipping Norton School. The transfer from the Primary to Secondary phase of a child’s education is an important process. We pride ourselves on how well we support children and their parents at this time. Ofsted has told us that our procedures to help children settle in are outstanding.
I am so excited about welcoming your son or daughter to Chipping Norton School and following Mr Johnson’s announcement on Sunday evening, I am hopeful that I will have an opportunity to visit the Year 6 students in their Primary Setting in the June or July as long as it is safe to do so.
The plan of action for Transition this year is as follows:
May 2020 | Welcome Letter from Mr Doherty (Headteacher) and Mrs Faulkner (Head of Year 7). |
May 2020 | Welcome Video from Key Members of Staff. Launch the Year 6 page on the School Website. |
June 2020 | Pen Portrait Videos from other Members of Staff. Regular updates available on the Year 6 page on the School Website. |
June/July 2020 | Visit Primary Schools – tbc |
September 2020 – tbc | Transition Days at CNS |
Autumn Term – tbc | Year 7 Parents – Meet the Tutor Evening |
Please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Faulkner (Head of Year 7), Mrs O’Brien (Year 7 Pastoral Support Assistant) or Mrs J Evans (SENCo) with any queries you may have regarding the transition arrangements.
Yours sincerely
Alison Faulkner
Head of Year 7
What you need
There are a few things that we would suggest that you get before you join us in September as you will use them all through you school life
Open Mornings: Saturday 4th and 11th July 2020
We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for Year 6 pupils plus one adult to visit Chipping Norton School on Saturday 4 July, or Saturday 11 July 2020, between 10:00am and 2:00pm. This is primarily aimed at:
- Pupils who are anxious about coming up to secondary school;
- Pupils who are joining CNS on their own or with just one or two others;
- Pupils from a non-partner primary school (out of catchment school).
The tour will be unaccompanied, however there will be numerous staff on hand at key points throughout the school to guide you to the next point of interest. The tour will begin in the coach park at the front of school and will be staggered every ten minutes to ensure there will be no risk of physical contact with others. If you would like to book a place then please email [email protected] with a brief summary of why you would like to visit and which day would be best for you. We have a total of 44 visits possible over the two days and we shall do our best to accommodate all those who are interested in joining us. We shall confirm the day and time allocated to you, assuming we are able to offer a visit to all who apply. In order for this to work successfully, we ask that you arrive at least ten minutes before your allocated time. We are sorry to say that if you are late then we cannot fit you in without putting other visitors at risk or inconvenience. That said we cannot wait to see you and we have a really great tour ready for you to enjoy! Yours sincerely Mrs Alison Faulkner Head of Year 7
