Year 8 Normandy trip

The Year 8s travelled by coach and ferry to France. The journey took almost 18 hours but it was totally worth it.  On the first morning after breakfast we went to a market to buy lunch. Apart from the fact it was pouring with rain, it was a very enjoyable task and we had some lovely French food. After lunch we went to Mont Saint Michel. It had stopped raining and the views from the castle were extraordinary.

The next day was packed with activities. We were split into 3 groups and did climbing, aeroball and archery. The activities were all great fun and the rabbits, peacocks and all sorts of other animals that roamed the centre just made it more fun. In the evening we watched a movie and played outside, which gave us lots of free time to relax.

On the third day we went to a British War graveyard and visited a 360° cinema on the D-day landings. The cinema had a very powerful message which it portrayed incredibly effectively. It was heart-stopping and saddening to see the battle in such a way.  After this visit we started our journey home. We had a quick stop at McDonalds for tea and arrived back in Chipping Norton exhausted.

We all thoroughly enjoyed the trip to Normandy and would recommend it to everyone.
