Headteacher’s letter March 31st 2021

Dear Parents and Carers

It was really motivating to listen to the radio on the way to work this morning. I listened to a summary of the soon to be published report by ‘The Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities’. Their report will be important to read and digest in full, but I was drawn to one particular element that concluded that success in education, “…has transformed British society over the last 50 years into one offering far greater opportunities for all.” We shall wait and see if everyone agrees but for me, at least, it served as a reminder that education always has and always will be the key that opens the door to more choices and therefore greater freedom throughout one’s lifetime. Good grades are merely a means to that end. Our goal in schools is to enable children to determine their own journey and not have their journey determined by others.

Latest CNS Newsletter Published

Please see the latest newsletter created by our School Librarian, Mrs Bovington. The link to our newsletters is here and the latest edition is packed with stories on World Book Day and a great insight into our Extra Time coaches. Several examples of A level art pieces are simply stunning and can be viewed on the inside back cover. Please do take a look.

Home Testing

Please continue with this every Wednesday and Sunday throughout the break and beyond, with the results also uploaded to our own spreadsheet via this link

Contact Tracing Over Easter

As I detailed in last week’s letter, please use this link to let us know if your son or daughter tests positive for COVID-19 at any point during the Easter holiday. We shall only need to conduct contract tracing if they develop symptoms in the first 48 hours of the holiday.

And finally…

Well, that’s about it for another term. I think we are all due a bit of a rest and a haircut. On behalf of all my colleagues, thank you so much for being the supportive parents and carers of our brilliant students.

Yours faithfully

Mr Doherty
