Headteacher’s letter 30 September 2019

Dear Parents and Carers

Additional Non Uniform Day – Friday 11th October 2019

Last week I learned of a local child called Anna Drysdale. Anna is in Year 4, attends Holy Trinity Primary School and is bravely fighting Osteosarcoma bone cancer. The little girl has a sister with us here at CNS and an older sister who has just left us and is now at university. Anna’s family and parents are seeking help to raise funds to enable Anna to travel to the USA to receive new immunotherapy cancer treatment.  They have set up a Just Giving fundraising page and we want to try and help.

Therefore, on Friday 11th October 2019 we are inviting all students to come into school in non-school uniform. We ask that each student and member of staff donates £1 – £2 for the cause. The donation will not be compulsory.  You can find out more about Anna’s story by following this link.

This is an additional non-uniform day. As you will be aware, we have four that are planned for this academic year to support four local charities. In taking this decision we are very mindful of adding an additional day such as this but under the circumstances felt that it was the right thing to do and that students and families would welcome a chance to try and help this child and her family.

There will be a special information Power Point shown to all of our students on Thursday 10th October during their PSHE lesson so that they can see how their contribution may help a local child. Should you wish to make your own donation then please follow the link to the Just Giving page.

Thank you for your support and understanding.

Best wishes,
Barry Doherty
