Headteacher’s Letter 21 July 2023

Dear Parents and Carers

Well, that is it for another year and thank you for your continual encouragement and support.

End of term

You will be aware that we finish at 12:15pm today, and that buses will depart just before 12:30pm.

A level and GCSE results days

Spare a thought for our year 13s and year 11s. They will receive their examination results on 17 and 24 August. Mr Trainer has sent out more details regarding both days to those year groups.

Start of Term

The first day for our year 7s will be on Tuesday 5 September. All other year groups will return on Wednesday 6 September, at the normal time.

If things are difficult or go wrong…

Very occasionally things can go wrong when students do not have the routine and structure provided by school. So, if you are worried that a child may be at risk of harm then you can call the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) on 0345 050 7666. Referrals to the MASH team can also be made using this MASH Enquiry Online Referral Form. If you have an urgent or serious concern about a child (at risk of immediate harm) please contact the police on 999. Even though the school is closed over the summer, we do maintain a designated safeguarding lead rota so that we can continue to liaise directly with external agencies, such as the MASH and the police.

Life happens…

Should anything occur over the summer break that may have an impact on your child’s health or wellbeing then do let us know in advance of the start of term. This will give us an opportunity to get in touch before term begins and consider any adjustments or communications that may help secure a happy and settled return to school.

Being present

I wish to end with the a-word: attendance. I cannot emphasise enough the importance of this returning to normal next year. It may help to talk about family and school expectations as we all approach the end of the holiday so that all of our children make rapid progress in this area next year.

I hope you all have a restful and enjoyable break and perhaps manage a few days away as well.

Yours faithfully
Barry Doherty
