Headteacher’s letter 19 March 2020

19 March 2020

Dear Parents and Carers

Years 11 and Year 13 Celebration Day
Our Year 11s and Year 13s have been so brilliant today and plans are now in place for a great day tomorrow. I understand that we shall be visited by ‘The Star Chip Enterprise’!

Jeans for Beans Day
It was suggested that we run a non-uniform day in support of local food banks and we hope that you got the message earlier today about this effort.

Key Workers
Thank you to those key workers who have been in touch already. I shall be writing to those particular families tomorrow afternoon to set out our plans for the provison that will begin next week – during normal school hours. We are confident that we have got a great plan to share with you and your children.

Years 10 and 12
Just a quick note to say that there is no absence of thought being given to how our Years 10 and 12 students are also affected by this closure. Whilst a relatively short closure for these students is manageable, a longer closure or disruption is more problematic. It is far too early to explore this further but we just want families and students to know that their situation is never very far from our thoughts as well at this time. It is something we shall come back to at the right time.

Next Letters
You may recall that I wrote to you before to say that you would receive a letter from Ms Hancock, followed by a letter from Mr Gent. Ms Hancock’s letter that summarises our safeguarding strategy during this period of closure will be with you this evening. Mr Gent’s letter about how learning will continue will be sent tomorrow. Until then, have a pleasant evening and thank you for all the messages support that have been received!

Yours sincerely
Barry Doherty
