Dear Parents and Carers

Additional Bank Holiday – Monday 19 September 2022

All schools will be closed on Monday for the state funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. It is plain to see that the events of the past week have been deeply moving for so many students and for colleagues. Monday will provide another opportunity to honour her life, but also help students become more interested in and more deeply aware of British history, culture, values, traditions and its political systems.

It was only very recently when the entire school explored the life and influence of Queen Elizabeth through the tutorial programme, in an assembly and follow-up activities led by Mrs De Bruyn. Nevertheless, it is clear that we have all learned a great deal more about her life, influence and impact in just a few days.

We are developing some ideas that might allow our community to aptly create a subtle and long-lasting celebration of her life and values. At the right time we shall share these thoughts with the students and create a fitting memorial.

We shall open as normal on Tuesday.
