Art trip to Florence

Very early on a Friday morning a group of 37 students and 4 adults met at CNS to embark on an art weekend to Florence, Italy. After a bumpy and windy flight we arrived in a sunny and warm Pisa. Once in Florence, the students got to experience the birthplace of Renascence and the wonders of the Uffizi gallery with its Botticelli’s and Caravaggio’s. We explored the breath-taking Duomo built nearly 1000 years ago and the Galleria Dell’Accademia to see Michelangelo’s ‘David’. We strolled over the Ponte Vecchio bridge (built in 1348) to the Pitti Palace, once the home of the Medici family and now an art gallery and then into the Boboli Gardens with beautiful views of Florence and the Tuscany countryside.

Much pizza, pasta and ice-creams were eaten as we enjoyed temperatures of 27 degrees! The trip was an amazing experience for all and the students demonstrated just how wonderful CNS young people are. It was a truly special trip.
