Summer 2023 A level Results

We are again so pleased for the students whose effort and commitment has been so richly rewarded with another year of great examination results. Our headline figures represent and celebrate the remarkable efforts of our highly talented students and their incredible teachers.

• 28% of all grades were A* or A
• 56% of all grades were A* to B
• 79% of all grades were A* to C

Success has been enjoyed across all subjects, with our embedded strengths in English, mathematics and the three sciences now joined with high flying performances in psychology, sociology, philosophy & ethics, history, geography, business studies and art & design. Our strength in breadth and depth continues to grow.

With so many challenges placed in the way of education and schools in recent years, we have once again succeeded in overcoming those hurdles by focussing our endeavours on the things within our control – a great curriculum that delivers the highest quality teaching, learning and assessment. In this return to grading comparable with the pre-COVID years, we are delighted to report that we continue to achieve in excess of national averages and look forward with growing confidence to outcomes in the year ahead.

“We are immensely proud of the achievements of all of our year 13 students leaving us this summer. They have realised their ambitions and won prestigious places at universities, apprenticeship programmes and in employment. Although the pandemic had a profound impact on so many lives, including this cohort being unable to sit public exams two years’ ago, our year 13 students rose to the challenge and have worked incredibly hard to secure these successes. I know that all of our students have bright futures ahead of them.

Well over one quarter of all of our students achieved two or more A* and A grades, an outstanding achievement.  We are proud of every single one of our students and a special mention must go to the following scholars who secured a total of twelve A* and seventeen A grades: Darcey Cheung, Alice Davis, Aaron Denton, Ned Duffy, Grace Haldin-Catt, Lewis Lamb, William Porter, Rebecca Warner and Emily Whiting.

Our students have all worked extremely hard to secure their destinations and this year these include Southampton, Bath, Leeds, Harper-Keele Veterinary School and Cambridge universities, plus several students who gained places on highly competitive apprenticeship programmes, including Amelia Burton joining Airbus.”
