Dear Parents and Carers
We all hope you had a decent break – particularly students in years 11 and 13. We hope they found some down time to recharge for the final push in the coming weeks.
Most students are now over halfway through their own examination season and therefore can detect the growing light at the end of the tunnel. It remains a source of joy to watch them leave the exam halls filled with relief and excitement that another paper or subject has been chalked off, and that they have given it all. There is no doubt that the exams are tough and arduous, but they are well prepared, highly motivated, and have an end that is now in sight.
Ofsted Update
We received a draft copy of the Ofsted report at the start of term and we hope to receive and then share the final report with you all in the next week or so. You will get to see the report several days before it is published on their website.
Normandy Educational Visit
My thanks and good luck to Mrs Brocklebank, Mrs Walker and Mrs Corley who will be taking thirty students from year 10 on a residential visit to Normandy today. A combined languages, history and art adventure for our students and, we hope, another truly memorable part of their life at this school. Whilst we get used to all of the trips that take place at CNS, we ought to remember that this is not typical and reflects the commitment of colleagues but also our willingness to spend that additional time with your children to ‘take them places’.
And finally…
I shall keep it short this week but also acknowledge that once the Ofsted report becomes available, I am looking forward to sharing more information with you about our journey of improvement and so will keep my word count down on this occasion.
Have a lovely weekend.
Yours faithfully
Barry Doherty
