On February 9th, Chipping Norton School competed against Burford in a thrilling Football match. Tension was high as the Burford team entered the pitch, nobody knew what the outcome would be. In the first five minutes of the game, the ball went up and down the pitch, raising cheers and boos from the crowd. A few close calls for Chipping Norton but all were successfully saved. Then half-time came and the teams went into a huddle. 

Back on the pitch five minutes later, Burford scored the first goal of the match with a flourish. A lucky penalty for Chipping Norton put Burford and Chipping Norton in a neck and neck position. A hair-raising goal sent the crowd screaming and Chipping Norton into the lead! Then Burford scored another goal putting the teams back to level pegging once more. The crowd was silent in anticipation, watching the game with crossed fingers. Chipping Norton scored again. Tempers flared as a foul was called, creating an opportunity for a goal for Chipping Norton which was missed. A handball resulted in another goal for Chipping Norton. A further goal from Chipping Norton had the Chipping Norton fans craning their necks to see every inch of what was happening. A missed goal for Burford and then Chipping Norton scored. At this point everyone cheering for Chipping Norton were praying for the game to end quickly. The final whistle blew, the Burford team groaned and Chipping Norton were declared the winners!
